Home Care Packages

Home Care Packages (HCP) offer affordable care services for older Australians needing assistance at home. The Australian Government pays a subsidy to arrange a care package to meet your needs, allowing you to receive care in your home. Your contribution to the cost of your care will vary based on the services you use and, in some cases, your financial situation.
There are four levels of Home Care Packages.

Package Levels:

Home Care Level 1

Supports people with basic care needs.

Home Care Level 2

Supports people with low-level care needs.

Home Care Level 3

Supports people with intermediate care needs.

Home Care Level 4

Supports people with high care needs.
Home care package is assigned as per the client’s needs after a thorough assessment by the Myagedcare assessor.

What Services Can I Get?

Based on the level of your Home Care Package, you can receive help with a variety of services:

Bathing, hygiene, and grooming:

Maintain personal hygiene and grooming standards.

Nursing:

Maintain personal hygiene and grooming standards.

Podiatry, physiotherapy, and other therapies:

Maintain movement and mobility.

Meals and food preparation:

Ensure a healthy diet.

Help with impairments or continence:

Manage specific conditions and maximize independence.

Cleaning, laundry, and other chores:

Keep your home clean and liveable.

Home or garden maintenance:

Maintain a safe home and garden.

Changes to your home:

Improve mobility and safety at home.

Aids to stay independent:

Assist with mobility, communication, and personal care.

Transport:

Help with getting to appointments and community activities.

Social outings, groups, and visitors:

Stay social and connected with the community.

Additional Services

Home Care Packages are flexible. You and your provider will determine if a specific service is:

Home Care Package funds cannot be used for:

Eligibility

Eligibility is based on an assessment of your care needs. You must be:

An older person needing coordinated services to stay at home, or

A younger person with a disability, dementia, or other care needs unmet through other specialist services.

Financial situations do not affect eligibility, but an income assessment through Services Australia may be required to determine contribution amounts.

Contact My Aged Care: Call 1800 200 422 or visit www.myagedcare.gov.au to request an assessment. Kanyini Care Services can help you navigate the My Aged Care system which can be complicated at times.

A My Aged Care assessor will evaluate your needs either by discussing your situation over the phone or by visiting your home to determine the level of assistance required.

Once your home care package funding has been approved, you will receive a letter advising you of your assigned package.
